Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an energetic individual to serve as Facilities Laborer. Under immediate supervision, this position will coordinate the logistics of conference room planning and arrange furniture in accordance with meeting room outline. The position will serve as laborer at various regional field office locations, moving furniture and equipment within field offices. Additionally, the position will deliver and check the quantity and quality of supplies and perform property control for the region. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Facilities Laborer in Cook County Administrative Services
  • Serves as laborer at various regional field office locations
  • Delivers and checks quantity and quality of supplies
  • Provides property control for the region
  • Operates various types of equipment such as postage meter, duplicating, faxing, and copying machinery
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records on supportive operations
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in a public or business organization performing facility moves of office furniture, equipment, etc. from
    one work site to another
  • 2 years of experience conducting inventories of facilities for a public or business organization
  • 2 years of experience in a public or business organization exercising basic knowledge of building maintenance equipment use and care in the performance of duties

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to pass a background check
  2. Requires the ability to travel and possession of a valid driver's license
  3. Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds
  4. Requires the ability to use hand tools, power stacker, dollies, carts, and power jacks
