The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible.

Role Purpose

The Director, Talent Development is responsible for leading learning and leadership development for Corning employees and leaders worldwide. This position manages a team and is a key thought leader and advisor to senior leadership on talent development, organizational upskilling and learning innovations. This position reports to Corning’s VP, Talent Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute an impactful Talent Development strategy aligned with Corning’s business priorities, growth trajectory, and global workforce needs.
    • Design future-focused learning and leadership development solutions that are adaptive, business-relevant, and integrated in the flow of work.
    • Partner closely with the business to orchestrate learning for our 50,000 employees across all geographies, roles, specialties and tenures, evolving rapidly with the business needs
  • Drive innovation across the function in response to emerging trends or business needs.
    • Leverage innovative delivery methods, from in-person programs and virtual training to cutting-edge digital platforms, to maximize reach, engagement, and behavioral change.
    • Integrate advanced technologies such as AI, immersive learning, and analytics to enhance learning impact, as well as speed and efficiency
  • Develop learning experiences leveraging the full breadth of learning modes, while operating with efficiency and scalability
    • Design development initiatives for all employees, including employees in plants, internal functions, and technical subject-matter experts.
    • Demonstrate measurable improvements in capability development, employee engagement, and organizational performance
    • Redefine how and where we meet our learners to develop core skills, expertise and emerging capabilities in high-priority areas such as AI, analytics, and innovation.
  • Lead global team of learning professionals with strong business understanding, deep expertise and knowledge in all aspects of adult learning

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Impact: Proven experience in a senior Talent Development or Learning leadership role with an ability to deliver in a global and matrixed environment with a diverse workforce
  • Strategic Vision: Deep understanding of business needs and priorities and how to continuously develop talent in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborative Leadership: Strong ability to work with senior stakeholders, lead global team, and align diverse perspectives.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Skilled in leveraging data and analytics to identify development needs, measure impact, refine programs, and drive continuous improvement.

 

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Advanced degree in Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Business, or related fields.

 

Location: Corning, NY or Charlotte, NC

Travel: 10%

Team Size: 10 (plus indirect team in regions)

The range for this position is   $172,964.00 - $237,826.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
