Classification Summary:


Individuals in positions allocated to this class are assigned entry-level professional work in the field of engineering associated with systems design or operational engineering functions. Primary responsibilities include minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assisting and developing particular phases of major projects in both systems and operations fields. Responsibilities may also include performing highly complex technical assignments, making and checking engineering computations, conducting studies resulting in estimates and surveys which will result in statistical reports included in the design of project specifications.


Work is normally performed under the direct supervision of an Engineering Supervisor - District, Senior Engineer or an assigned Division Manager. Direct supervision is exercised over this position to ensure accomplishment of agreed upon results of assigned responsibilities.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Engineering Design
    . Performs engineering computations and studies, makes estimates, surveys, inventories, measures, and other similar engineering work.

  • Project Engineering
    . Handles minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assists in developing particular phases of major projects.
  • Project Preparation . Prepares statistics, reports, minor design and project specifications.
  • Communication . Contacts manufacturers' representatives and assumes minor supervisory responsibility for construction projects in the field as directed.
  • Operation s of Equipment . Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and efficient manner and keeps the vehicle clean and orderly, while coordinating any necessary repairs or maintenance items with Fleet Services. Complies with all traffic laws and related safety rules and safe work practices in the Cooperative Safety Manual and is able to perform CPR and first aid.
  • Safety . Practices safe work habits in the performance of all job duties and is familiar with and follows those portions of the Cooperative Safety Manual that pertain to the position.
  • Other Essential Duties . Each employee is responsible to perform other duties as required to benefit the Cooperative and its members, includes responding to and/or assisting in emergency situations.


Minimum Training and Experience:


This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in Engineering in electrical, mechanical, industrial, civil or nuclear.


Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.


Substitution:


A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology degree from an ETAC/ABET regionally accredited program and two (2) years of qualified engineering experience, as defined by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE), may substitute for the minimum training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Ability to positively interact with the general public, contractors and consulting engineers using effective communication skills and judgement necessary for on the spot decisions.
