Classification Summary:
Individuals in positions allocated to this class are assigned entry-level professional work in the field of engineering associated with systems design or operational engineering functions. Primary responsibilities include minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assisting and developing particular phases of major projects in both systems and operations fields. Responsibilities may also include performing highly complex technical assignments, making and checking engineering computations, conducting studies resulting in estimates and surveys which will result in statistical reports included in the design of project specifications.
Work is normally performed under the direct supervision of an Engineering Supervisor - District, Senior Engineer or an assigned Division Manager. Direct supervision is exercised over this position to ensure accomplishment of agreed upon results of assigned responsibilities.

Minimum Training and Experience:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in Engineering in electrical, mechanical, industrial, civil or nuclear.
Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
Substitution:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology degree from an ETAC/ABET regionally accredited program and two (2) years of qualified engineering experience, as defined by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE), may substitute for the minimum training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to positively interact with the general public, contractors and consulting engineers using effective communication skills and judgement necessary for on the spot decisions.
