THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN YANKTON, SOUTH DAKOTA

General Accountability:

This position will perform a variety of tasks related to the painting and finishing details in the production process of heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.

Duties and Responsibility:

• Maintain a safe work environment
• Work without close supervisor
• Job duties include but are not limited to:
• Prepare surfaces of parts and equipment to be painted using brushes, scrapers, solvents, air grinders/sanders, etc.
• May apply tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
• May mix and prepare paint materials for use.
• Paint parts and equipment in accordance with Quality Control and job order specifications.
• Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface when needed.
• Transport and set up parts and equipment to be painted.
• May perform maintenance on all paint related equipment including paint booths.
• Operate, maintain, and use personal protective equipment and other safety supplies and equipment.
• Perform sandblasting duties as required.
• Perform or assist in other assigned duties/areas as qualified.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company policies relating to safety, housekeeping and Hazardous Waste Management programs.
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures; perform tasks in a safe manner.
• In the event of an accident or injury immediately, notify the Shift supervisor on duty.
• Contact Maintenance Department to get equipment repaired when necessary.
• Ability and willingness to take on additional assignments as requested by management.
• Use tools, equipment and technology, computers or automated systems.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Check results for conformance to print and / or specifications and make necessary corrections.
• Work with coworkers in a polite and courteous manner, providing cross training as needed.
• Able to work overtime as required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

Minimum education:  High school diploma or GED.

Skills and Competencies/Requirements:

• Must be a self-starter, team player and have the ability to multitask.
• Able and willing to work in other areas as needed.  Suggest and implement improvements.  Follow up on details.  Seek out productive work when assignments are completed.  Actively participate in continuous improvement for our products and process to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability.

Equipment :  tools, metatarsal safety shoes, safety glasses/goggles, gloves and other PPE as needed.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities :  Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, standing for extended periods, lifting multiple pounds regularly, use wrist motion, reach above/below shoulders, step up/down, bend/stoop, twist, squat/crouch, kneel or crawl.

Essential Skills :  Perform work standing on a concrete a minimum of 8 hours up to 10 hours per day.  Reading, writing, oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, significant use of memory, finding information, and continuous learning.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
