JOB DESCRIPTION
Educational Secretary
This position will provide a full time Educational Secretary for Pleasant Grove Intermediate School. This employee must:
1) be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate;
2) have three years of experience as an Educational Secretary; or
3) thirty semester hours of college credit with some business orientation orequivalent business school background; or
4) successful demonstration of seven areas of competency as identified in theprofessional standards program of the
National Association of EducationalOffice Personnel including competencies in typing transcription filingprocedures office records management and business writing; or
5) five years of general clerical/secretarial experience;
6) be recommended by the employing Superintendent.
The secretary shall have knowledge skills abilities and attitudes of the following nature: ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to communicate and work with students teachers school administrators and the public; to maintain records; to maintain effective working relationships with other auxiliary personnel teachers school administrators and the public; and have a positive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the aide the school the staff and the students.
The Secretary is presently employed in the above described position for the Pleasant Grove ISD and will work for 226 days. Pay scale and classification will not be less than the minimum compensation plan for Pleasant Grove Independent School District. The secretary will be under building principals and the Superintendent of Schools.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
This employee shall:
1) work with the administrators and carry out such duties and responsibilities as policies in relation to students
teachers school administrators and the public would demand.
2) carry out such duties and responsibilities as clerical operationsmaintaining records typing bookkeeping inventory andperforming other stenographic and clerical functions.
3) participate in staff development as scheduled.
4) respect the confidence of instructional personnel and the administrator.
5) accept responsibility for making office reports and supervising the office operations.
6) display initiative good judgment and common sense in dealing with school patrons either on the telephone or in the school office.
7) perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
