Job Description

Snr Project Manager - Data Centre Construction

Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: $170,000 - $205,000

SUMMARY

This role is for a Senior Project Manager leading a ground-up data centre construction project in Houston for a general contractor focused on mission-critical work. The position owns full project delivery from preconstruction through closeout and is suited to a Texas-based leader seeking long-term involvement on complex, high-value data centre projects without extensive travel.

Must Haves

  • 8+ years of experience leading large-scale commercial or mission-critical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Proven experience managing ground-up data centre construction projects for a general contractor.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects valued at $100M+ with full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of CPM scheduling, cost control, cash flow management, and forecasting.
  • Deep understanding of contract documents, scopes of work, subcontractor agreements, and change management.
  • Experience leading subcontractor procurement, buy-out, and contract administration.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams and mentor project engineers and assistant project managers.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to interface confidently with owners, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to Haves

  • Prior experience delivering hyperscale or colocation data centre projects.
  • Background working with mission-critical systems including MEP-intensive scopes and commissioning coordination.
  • Experience helping build or scale a new regional team or business line.
  • Familiarity with quality control programs and inspection readiness on mission-critical projects.
  • Strong relationships with Texas-based subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Experience working for a large or mid-sized general contractor with complex self-performed coordination.
  • Demonstrated interest in long-term leadership growth rather than project-to-project movement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of a ground-up data centre construction project in Houston from preconstruction through final closeout.
  • Develop and execute the overall project strategy including staffing plans, schedules, logistics, and procurement sequencing.
  • Take ownership of the project budget from turnover and manage all cost control, forecasting, and margin performance.
  • Oversee development, maintenance, and execution of the CPM schedule in coordination with field operations and procurement.
  • Lead subcontractor buy-out, contract execution, and ongoing scope, cost, and schedule management.
  • Manage submittals, material procurement, and delivery schedules to support critical path milestones.
  • Administer the change management process including pricing, documentation, and client communication.
  • Prepare and submit monthly pay applications and manage billing, collections, and cash flow performance.
  • Review cost reports regularly and implement corrective actions to maintain financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements including insurance, lien waivers, and reporting obligations.
  • Oversee quality control execution and ensure inspection readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and key trade partners.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to project team members to drive performance and accountability.
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement, project pursuits, and presentations as needed.
